In some situation, you may need to reinstall Mac OS X and Apple applications without losing your files and user settings intact, please follow these steps:
1 Make sure you’re connected to the Internet.
2 Open the Mac OS X Utilities pane by follow this page: How to run Mac OS X Utilities
3. Select Reinstall Mac OS X and click Continue.
4. Select your current Mac OS X disk
5. To select or deselect optional software, click Customize.
6. Click Install.
Note: You can install Mac OS X without erasing the disk, which saves your existing files
and settings.
