Tablet with Enterprise wireless can't join domain

Q: We have HP Slate 500 running Windows 7 Pro. It comes with wireless only (no wired). Our company is setup to use enterprise wireless. By my understand, we must join the domain first to use the enterprise wireless. Since the tablet doesn't come with wired NIC, how can we join the domain?

A: If you have USB connection, you may want to connect to a USB NIC to join the domain first. This post may have more details. How to join HP Slate to a domain using enterprise Wireless

A:

Before going on, please answer the below questions:

1.    Do you deploy 802.1x for enterprise wireless authentication?

2.    Are you using Windows NPS or IAS as the Radius server in your environment?

As I know if you are using Windows NPS or IAS to deploy the 802.1x authentication, you can create a network policy on the radius side to force the authentication failed machine to a certain VLAN which is only allow to communicate with server’s VLAN (DC, DHCP and DNS). The client machine can join domain from this VLAN. After joining domain, the client can be authorized to a new normal VLAN which can  communicate with all VLANs.

How to create this network policy you can refer to the below article:

Create NPS Policies for 802.1X Wireless Using a Wizard
