Tips for shooting flowers in the rain - Step by step with Screenshots

1. It is better to use longer lenses since longer focal lenses let you capture the rain without getting immersed in rain. It would be wise to use longer lenses; so that you could avoid the possible risk of splashes hitting your equipment at totally unexpected times. Longer focal length lenses also magnifies the subject (which includes rain drops) and thus could bring more impact to the rain drops.

2. Use the aperture to control the depth of field. Set the shooting mode to A (Aperture Priority Auto) and set a wide aperture value (small number) that makes blur more likely.

3. Make the subject look BIG. Water drops are very small and transparent. If you don't make them appear bigger in the picture, they will get lost. Get as close to the subject as the lens you are using will allow. A macro lens is ideal as you can make small subjects appear even larger. Getting close to the subject will also soften the focus on the background, making the water drops look even more brilliant.

4. Try experimenting with different angles and distances and see what you can create!

5. Try using Art Filters. Water drops are really beautiful as they are but if your camera supports them, try using art filters to enhance your shot.
